LIBERTY – Clay County Presiding Commissioner Jerry Nolte said he will ask fellow commissioners to honor the memory and decades of public service of former Presiding Commissioner Ed Quick. Nolte is a Republican and Quick served as a Democrat. Party is not an issue in this matter, Nolte said. “We’re all Clay Countians,” he said. Nolte said he would like to place Quick’s name on the downtown Liberty bank building the county purchased and converted into a county office building. “It’s a nice gesture,” he said. A former state representative, Nolte said he did not agree always with Quick, the former Missouri Senate president pro tempore. “I disagreed with Ed on some things, but he was a gentleman, and he was a statesman, and we need to get back into that frame of mind where he was willing to get things done,” he said.
