EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – New York, Washington and Minneapolis are among the major cities across the country where protests against police violence have made national headlines, but big cities are not alone – small town-America is protesting, too. A north St. Louis native, Ay Quanzo, 23, carried a sign at the busy intersection of Highway 13 and Business 50 in Warrensburg that stated: “1 Race: The Human Race.” “I just want equality for all,” Quanzo, a black rap artist, said. “I believe in Black Lives Matter, but I also believe … America needs to unify. Some police officers be trippin’. It’s not 1965 no more – it’s not 1985; it’s 2020.” Quanzo said he tries to show respect for everyone, including those with whom he disagrees in far-right groups.
