Purchase of long-awaited flatbed/plow truck approved

The Excelsior Springs Parks, Recreation and Community Center (ESPRCC) Department expects to have a longawaited truck to help keep the parking lots and drives at city parks clear of snow and ice next winter.
Provided, of course, next winter isn’t as dry as this one.
Per approval in December by the park board and later the Excelsior Springs City Council, the department has ordered a 1-ton truck from Chuck Anderson Ford in Excelsior Springs for $49,771.16 for its parks maintenance division. The purchase includes a $12,800 tradein mark down, city documents state.
The vehicle will have a snow plow and a flatbed, according to a Dec. 27 letter to city leaders from Nate Williams, parks, recreation and community center director.
“We have bid this four times in three years,” Williams told city leaders shortly before the council’s approval at the Hall of Waters. “And I think we’re finally at a place (to buy one).”
