Quick action helps deputy save a life
A Clay County deputy’s training and quick response proved lifesaving when he encountered a victim suffering from severe and potentially fatal bleeding.
County commissioners recently honored Deputy Taylor Nave for his response to the incident.
Commissioner Jason Withington presented the honorary resolution, which detailed Nave’s response to the serious accident. According to the resolution, Nave recognized the urgency of the situation and immediately applied a tourniquet before emergency medical personnel arrived, successfully controlling the bleeding.
“Medical professionals at North Kansas City Health later determined Deputy Nave’s quick and decisive actions were instrumental in saving the patient’s life,” the resolution states. “Deputy Nave was recognized by the North Kansas City Health Trauma and Critical Care for life-saving response and for demonstrating the importance of preparedness and emergency medical training.”
