MIRANDA JAMISONThe Excelsior Springs Council has awarded its new residential solid waste collection and disposal contract to Red Gate Disposal. The company was selected over three other bidders after a detailed review of prices, references and service capabilities.Public Works Director Chad Birdsong noted the change comes as the city’s current contract with Allied Waste ends. The city advertised for bids on its website and in the Excelsior Springs Standard on July 11 and 18 and also sent requests directly to local haulers. Four companies responded: AAA Disposal Service, GFL, Red Gate Disposal and Republic Services.The bid tab showed AAA Disposal Service at $15 per month for curbside trash and $3.25 for curbside recycling, for a total monthly cost of $18.25.
