The 23rd Annual BBQ & Fly-In on the River, scheduled for Friday, Aug. 18, from 6 a.m. to Aug. 19, at 5 p.m., requires the closure of several streets and parking lots that will prohibit vehicle traffic. The Excelsior Springs downtown district will be closed at multiple locations for the duration of the event, including: • South Marietta Street beginning at Broadway Street to Spring Street. • East Excelsior Street from North Main Street to Elizabeth Street. • North Main Street starting at East Excelsior Street to South Street. • Penn Street from East Excelsior Street to Broadway. • Broadway from south Marietta Street to Penn Street. • All roads will be blocked to thru traffic throughout the event. Lyndsey Baxter, Executive Director of Excelsior Springs Downtown Partnership, asks guests who typically park in these locations to please move their vehicles to another downtown parking location outside of the festival grounds during the event.
