SAFE offers help where it counts

The monthly Substance Abuse Free Environment meeting (SAFE) at Excelsior Springs Hospital was held recently. SAFE, a prevention coalition that partners with Excelsior Springs Hospital, is for those passionate about creating healthy safe environments for youth around the tri-county region. Hilary Lindstorm, public health nurse supervisor of the Nurse-Family Partnership discussed the nurse-family partnership program offered for the tri-county and surrounding areas. The Nurse-Family Partnership is a free program connecting nurses with mothers expecting their first baby. The program helps families strive, communities prosper and helps break the cycle of poverty. The Nurse-Family Partnership program is a community health program funded by a Maternal Child Health (MCH) Title V grant with the mission to assure access to maternal and child health care services for mothers and children.
