School district leaders locate additional substitute teacher prospects
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The school district has found prospects to help address the substitute teacher labor shortage.
A career fair drew 35 people – 10 more people than the district had on the substitute list before the event, Deputy Superintendent Jaret Tomlinson told district leaders during the Board of Education’s Oct. 11 meeting in the Support Services Center. The breakdown for the turnout was 26 people interested in being substitute teachers and nine interested in being substitute paraprofessionals, Tomlinson said. An estimated six recruits have finished district training, he said.
“We have about another six or seven that are midprocess,” Tomlinson said. “And then, the other people, we’re still trying to prod along a little bit.”
