EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The district seeks funds for two multimillion construction projects at the high school. The district asked FEMA for $4.75 million to build an auxiliary gym, Superintendent Travis Hux stated in a Sept. 13 memo. He also stated the district applied for $2.4 million in Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief funding for a precision air conditioning system as part of the high school’s heating, ventilation and air conditioning system, and for work on the high school gym. Hux further reported renovation work on the baseball field between the high school and middle school continues, with November as the target for completion. Renovations include installing synthetic turf. The memo listed four finished projects: the new Cornerstone Elementary School, installation of digital signs districtwide and renovation projects at Elkhorn and the Early Childhood Center. The Cornerstone, Elkhorn and ECC projects have “punch list items” to finish, Hux stated.
