Clay County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) deputies will soon have expanded training capabilities through additions to the department’s existing law enforcement simulator.

The Clay County Commission approved the purchase during a recent meeting, authorizing a $29,006.25 sole-source agreement with InVerIs Training Solutions using American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds to expand the Sheriff’s Office’s existing Firearms Training Simulator (FATS) system. The additions include a Taser X26P simulator, M4 scope tracker and chemical spray simulator, allowing deputies to incorporate additional equipment into scenario-based training.

The FATS system provides simulated law-enforcement training through virtual and augmented- reality scenarios, according to county documents. The additional equipment will enhance the realism and effectiveness of the existing simulator by allowing instructors to incorporate additional less-lethal force options and patrol rifle applications into training scenarios.
