In the upcoming April 8 election, Excelsior Springs’ incumbent Mayor Mark Spohn is running unopposed for his city council seat.Spohn remains fully dedicated to his role as a leader in the community. He has called Excelsior Springs home for over five decades, after moving from Iowa as a junior in high school. After a long career at Ford Motor Company’s Kansas City Assembly Plant, where he worked for 30 years and retired in 2007, he shifted his focus to entrepreneurship and community involvement. Over the years, Spohn has purchased and rehabilitated several properties, including the Payne Jailhouse Bed and Breakfast, which he and his wife, Anna, have operated since 2016.
