Clay County experienced low voter participation in the April 7 General Municipal Election, with unofficial results showing only 8.64% of registered voters casting ballots across all precincts.Of the 153,962 registered voters in Clay County, only 13,302 chose to vote in the election.Because Excelsior Springs voters cast ballots in both Clay and Ray counties, unofficial city council totals were combined from both jurisdictions. Reggie St. John and Sonya Morgan have been elected to the Excelsior Springs City Council. St. John received 549 votes (43.16%), while Morgan secured 404 votes (31.76%). Joshua A. Nunez gar- nered 312 votes (24.53%) and write-in candidates collectively received seven votes (0.55%). There were 128 undervotes reported in Clay County.
