StuCo offers ideas to encourage student engagement
On Sept. 12, district leaders learned what the Excelsior Springs High School Student Council is doing to encourage student participation in school activities.
Kyra Davidson and Em Rice, members of the council’s executive board, presented the briefing that evening at the Support Services Center during the Board of Education’s regular meeting. Davidson and Rice are council president and treasurer, respectively.
One initiative is a new committee system, according to Davidson. Committees in the system she cited included those for spirit and pride, and buildings and grounds.
Other efforts include the introduction of Tiger Passports, overseen by the Social Committee. Sold as $3 booklets, the passports are a way “to help kids get more … involved with activities at the school and boost school spirit,” with students receiving passport stamps for attending school functions and sporting the school colors, Davidson said.
