Tax-free weekend coming to Excelsior Springs
Missouri’s annual back-to-school sales tax holiday will begin at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 4, and ends at midnight Sunday, Aug. 6, in participating regions.
During the sales tax holiday, certain back-to-school purchases such as school supplies, computers, clothing and other items defined by the ruling are exempt from all state and local sales tax.
Excelsior Springs is participating the tax-free weekend and local sales tax will not be charged for the following items:
• Clothing that does not have a taxed value over $100, including footwear, disposable diapers for infants and adults and cloth and materials used to make school clothing. Items not allowed or identified as clothing include watches, watchbands, jewelry, handbags, handkerchiefs, umbrellas, scarves, ties, headbands, belts and belt buckles.
• School supplies not to exceed $50 per purchase that can be used in a standard classroom for educational purposes. School supplies include textbooks, notebooks, paper, writing…
