Three in GOP enter to compete for treasurer seat
LIBERTY – Three Republicans seek the Clay County treasurer seat Aug. 4 and whoever wins is a shoo-in because no Democrat filed for the job.
The candidates are Treasurer Bob Nance, 70, Kansas City-North; attorney Lisa Vogelbaugh Keefer, 51, Kearney, who ran for assessor in 2016; and Jesse Leimkuehler, 45, Kansas City-North, who ran for treasurer in 2012 and for a Liberty Board of Education seat in 2014.
Gov. Mike Parson appointed Nance – former Excelsior Springs Chamber of Commerce director and a four-term state representative serving Clay and Ray counties – as treasurer July 31, 2019. Nance replaced Ted Graves, who died in office due to cancer.
