The Tiger Hall of Fame recently welcomed four former Excelsior Springs athletes and a state-placing cross-country team, recognizing decades of athletic achievement.

The 2026 Tiger Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony at the Excelsior Springs High School (ESHS) Performing Arts Center honored the 1983 women’s cross-country team, Sam Webb, Matt Happy, Melissa

Mashburn Mathis and Spencer Wilkins.

Activities Director Doug Baker welcomed attendees to the ceremony, which marked the 21st year of Tiger Hall of Fame inductions.

Baker recognized the Hall of Fame Committee for its work seeking and selecting candidates before introducing committee member and 2022 inductee Terri Irons, who helped lead the evening’s induction presen- tations.

Webb, a 2016 ESHS graduate, was a multisport athlete at Excelsior Springs High School, competing in football, basketball and track and field before continuing his football career at Missouri Western State University and eventually reaching the NFL. He entered the Hall of …
