Tigers make school history, then prep for familiar foe

In making school history on Nov. 3 at Tiger Stadium, Excelsior Springs secured its second postseason meeting with Harrisonville in three seasons in boys soccer. The Tigers (13-5) will face Harrisonville (17-5-1) at 6 p.m. Saturday at Harrisonville in Class 2 state quarterfinal action, with the winner advancing to the state semifinals, scheduled for Nov. 17 at the World Wide Technology Soccer Park in Fenton. The Wildcats are on a 10-game winning streak and an 11-game unbeaten streak. Excelsior Springs is on a nine-game winning streak at it prepares to face not only a former postseason opponent, but also a former foe from the Tigers’ stint in the Missouri River Valley Conference-West Division. “Early in the year, we were trying to figure things out; and now, we feel we have learned some lessons through the ups and downs, and now things seem to be rolling well for us,” Tigers coach Zac Ganzer said.
