Two jail deaths under investigation
Two separate investigations are underway following the deaths of two inmates at the Clay County Detention Center this month.Kenneth E. Scott, 63, was discovered unresponsive in his cell during routine safety checks conducted by detention staff around 8 a.m. on Feb. 6. Medical personnel on-site, along with detention officers, immediately attempted to perform resuscitation efforts while waiting for paramedics to arrive. Despite their efforts, Scott was pronounced dead just moments before 8 a.m.Scott had been in custody since Nov. 19, facing two counts of first-degree robbery.
