A registered sex offender — who was allegedly fleeing from law enforcement with two juveniles in the vehicle — has been charged after his vehicle went airborne and crashed into the roof of the Clay-Ray Veterans Hall, located at 208 Veterans Memorial Drive.Calen D. Hollis, 22, of Olathe, Kan. has been charged with two felony counts of aggravated fleeing a stop or detention, causing physical injury.“He is currently in custody at the Olathe, Kansas Police Department, awaiting extradition to the Clay County Missouri Detention Center,” said Excelsior Springs Police Department (ESPD) Chief Gregory Dell. “The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be forthcoming.”As of press time, Hollis does not have an initial court hearing date set.All officer and victim names are redacted in the report and will be referred to by number.On Feb. 15, ESPD Officers One and Two were on routine patrol, riding togeth...
