Virus cases continue moving up in Ray, Clay counties

RICHMOND – Area COVID-19 cases continued to rise this week versus last: up 29% in Clay County and up 8% in Ray County. Numbers reported for the Richmond School District showed six members and 14 students had tested positive for COVID-19. Thirteen of the positive students and five of the positive staff members are at the middle school and there is one of each at the high school. The highest number of self-quarantined students, 81; and staff members, 7, also are found at the middle school. In addition, there are 13 self-quarantined students and five staff members at the high school; 17 students and two staff members at Sunrise Elementary; and five students and one staff member at Dear Elementary. Heart to Heart international offers testing sites in Clay County, with a site being made available Tuesday, Dec. 15, in Excelsior Springs.
