Webb leads the way in Waterfest Parade

Sam Webb, no doubt, has been called upon at times to lead during his football career. On June 24, the Excelsior Spring High School graduate and current Las Vegas Raider was a leader in a different way: He led the other entries for the Waterfest Parade in downtown Excelsior Springs as the grand marshal. Riding in a car, Webb was the first of 42 entries, according to Abi Douglas, parade director. The total was “a lot more than we had last year,” Douglas said. “(We’re) recovering from COVID finally – and our year of the flood (2021),” she said. Webb, who’s entering his second season with Las Ve - gas and of pro football overall, was wellreceived, Douglas said. “I heard plenty of (people say), ‘Go, Raiders,’” she said. “And a lot of people were clapping for him.” For Webb, who greeted fans afterward on Broadway, the event was a chance to clear his head before returning to his job.
