Woods Memorial leadership broadcasts church services via radio in parking lot
EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – A low-powered FM transmitter broadcasting a parking lot worship service and a Little Pantry offering free food and basic pantry items, are ways Woods Memorial is reaching out to help during the COVID-19 pandemic.
An FM transmitter broadcasting at 89.5 FM offers an 11 a.m. Sunday worship service for those parking near the church.
“Unfortunately, many folks who are older and those who are health-compromised will need to continue to shelter in place for the foreseeable future,” the Rev. Tim Mabbott said.
Mabbott pastors the Woods Memorial congregation.
“Folks want to get out, but public worship is not safe for them. By worshiping in their cars, they get to see other worshipers and honk an ‘amen,’” Mabbott said.
The Little Pantry is Woods Memorial’s latest way of reaching out to help community members.
