Young business owner reaches big goal
MIRANDA JAMISONA table of handmade crafts became the foundation for a much bigger achievement, allowing a young business owner to reach a goal on which she refused to give up. Kaylee Guettermann, 13, of Kansas City, recently brought her small business to The Overlook at Crystal Lakes, where she continued selling handmade items after reaching the goal that first motivated her work.Guettermann owns Kaylee’s Kreative Designs, a small business she built by selling jewelry and art pieces at vendor events. Through those sales, she saved enough money to buy her own horse, a process that took about two years.“I knew my parents were not going to get me one,” said Guettermann. “I knew I needed to step in and start saving if I was ever going to own a horse.”Her work includes jewelry and art pieces made using wood, canvases, beads, metal and charms.
