ESCC membership surpasses 7,000
The Excelsior Springs Community Center (ESCC) board met recently to discuss future goals, including a breakdown of the influx of members joining the center.
Nate Williams, ESCC Director, explained he put together a complete report of every ZIP code nearby with the number of members from each area that are utilizing the community center.
As of Oct. 19, the community center has 7,040 members and Molly Mc-Govern, city manager, said the community center is gaining 200 members a week.
Stephen Spear, mayor pro-tem, asked the board if memberships are in the 7000s, what is the scenario that the center will be financially sustainable in and of itself through memberships and other activities and the strategy for deploying those said activities.
Excelsior Springs City Manager, Molly McGovern responded, explaining the range of activities offered, such as educational and preventative care, health and wellness, and nutritional programs and the new outdoor pool are ways to right-size the ESCC’s…
