Community Center teaches kids how to chop vegetables
ESCC YOUTH and Family Coordinator Kyria Hood hosted a Kids in the Kitchen event with local youth last week. The event is designed to teach community children skills that are useful in the kitchen and help them grow into adolescence. “The Community Center is lucky to have a dietitian from Excelsior Springs Hospital join regularly to help educate the kids on nutrition and safe food handling practices,” said Hood. “Teaching youth skills that allow them to be more independent and have a hand in their care is incredibly important.
