Beulah Fern (Barnes) Pulliam passed away on Jan. 13, 2023, at the age of 83 years and 26 days after a brief battle with non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

Beulah was born on Dec. 18, 1939, in Bartlett Township, Shannon County, to Toney Arvil and Minnie Hannah (Johnston) Barnes. She was united in marriage to Richard Lee Pulliam, who survives of the home, on Dec. 6, 1957, in Eminence; and to this union, four children were born.

Richard and Beulah briefly lived in Corning, Ark., after getting married before moving back to the Winona area. Richard worked in the family sawmill, while Beulah worked at a local cap factory and grocery store. In the fall of 1961, they moved to Kansas City, and eventually moved and settled in the summer of 1969 in rural Rayville.

Beulah was a stay-at-home wife and mother. She was a generous woman, always helping others during their time of need. Those who knew her knew she loved to talk and was often heard saying she never met a stranger. Beulah enjoyed making floral arrangements and crafts using her trusty “hot glue gun.” Many holidays and celebrations saw family and friends being gifted with some of her beautiful creations.

She loved going to garage sales, thrift stores and was a well-known, longstanding customer at a local auction house. She spent countless hours there on Sunday afternoons, catching up with her fellow auction-goers, often saying the auctions were her Sunday church.

Beulah loved with great passion her family, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Beulah was preceded in death by her parents, Toney and Minnie Barnes; brothers, Marvin Ray Barnes, Melvin Lowell Barnes, Floyd Lee Barnes and William Martin Barnes; and sister, Lois Marie Vaugh.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Richard; and four children, Jessie (Tammy) Pulliam of Excelsior Springs, Jacquetta (Randy) Hartman of Rayville, Lynn (Glenda) Pulliam of Owasso, Okla., and Gary (April) Pulliam of Richmond. She leaves to mourn her passing 13 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Arrangements handled by Hidden Valley Funeral Home of Excelsior Springs. Private services will be held.
