Carolyn “Sue” Mynatt, 83, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2026, wrapped in the warmth and love of her family. Born July 2, 1943, to Don and Bessie (Holt) Langford in Crawford County, Kan., Sue moved with her family to Lathrop as a teenager. It was there that she met the absolute love of her life, Perry Joe Mynatt. The two were wed on Oct. 10, 1960, in Benton County, Ark., beginning a beautiful journey of shared devotion that spanned 65 wonderful years. Perry and Sue made their home in the Kansas City North section of the metro, where they blessed the world with two children, Renee and Terry; and later, they poured their hearts into raising their granddaughter Kasey.

Sue was an exceptionally skilled seamstress who poured love into every stitch. Everyone was welcome at “Sue’s Sew Shop,” where she tailored and repaired clothing. She also lovingly crafted quilts, baby blankets, embroidered tea towels, and pillowcases for family and friends.

Her reputation for excellence even reached the Grand Ole Opry, where she did custom tailoring for Little Jimmy Dickens. He easily could have changed the lyrics of his 1958 hit “I have a hole in my pocket” to “Sue fixed the hole in my pocket!”

Even when arthritis slowed her hands, her creative spirit never wavered. She kept sewing beautiful gifts of love for others.

With a heart that knew no boundaries, Sue loved all children. She ran a home daycare, caring for kids of all ages. Her maternal love extended far beyond her own children to her nieces, nephews and granddaughter Kasey.

As she approached retirement, her nurturing spirit shifted toward her older neighbors, helping them maintain their independence and quality of life. Her true legacy lives on in those quiet, nameless acts of kindness that forever altered the lives of those around her.

Sue also found great joy in nature, raising beautiful flowers and working alongside Perry in his garden. She enjoyed making homemade salsa and canning fresh vegetables. Sue was famous for making the “best cheesecake ever” and her signature fresh grape jelly.

Sue lived life with a loving, open heart; and her gentle, giving soul will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Sue and Perry were truly inseparable in life, sharing an eternal bond that time could not diminish. Just days after his passing on May 29, 2026, Sue was lovingly welcomed home to Heaven into Perry’s arms. What a beautiful reunion it must have been!

She also was reunited with her sister, Nancy Adams; and brother, Don “Red” Langford.

Her gentle, giving memory will be forever cherished by her loving children, Terry Mynatt and his wife Maryanne; and Renee Mynatt-Woolridge and her husband Edward. She also will be remembered by her grandchildren: Kasey Mynatt-Stinnett and her husband Adam; Hayley Auxier and her husband Austin; Hannah Mynatt and her partner, Noah Hunter; as well as Sherie Hodges, Gary Hodges and Kerri Delema.

In addition, she leaves behind nine precious great-grandchildren, along with a host of loving nieces, nephews and dear friends, who meant the world to her.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a visitation 10-11 a.m. Friday, June 12, at Park Lawn Northland Chapel, 1640 Highway 291, Liberty. A celebration of Sue’s life will begin at 11.

Following the chapel service, Sue and Perry will be laid to rest together, side by side once more, in the Lathrop City Cemetery.
