GEORGE A. BROCK
The Excelsior Standard, Jan. 31,2025
George A. Brock, 63, of Lawson passed away the morning of Jan. 25, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
George Brock
George was born April 13, 1961, to George Edward and Norma Jean (O’Dell) Brock. He grew up in Excelsior Springs and graduated in 1979 from Excelsior Springs High School. He then continued his education at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in agricultural business management. Once a Bearcat, always a Bearcat.
George wore many hats throughout his time on Earth, ranging from outdoorsman to auctioneer, farmer to salesman, amateur chef, son, brother, uncle and fiercely loyal friend. The titles he held in the highest regard were loving husband, father and “Poppy.”
He had a passion for traveling, the outdoors, good food, Kansas City sports and NASCAR. He never met a stranger and he’d give you the shirt off his back. He loved hard and will be deeply missed by many.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, George and Norma Brock; in-laws, Earl and Gwen Bradbury; and many others. We’re certain he had one heck of a welcoming party!
Survivors include his loving wife, Sandra; and daughter, Bethany Brock, both of the home. Other survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Jake Rhoads of Greenwood; granddaughter, Maylee Rhoads; sister and brother-in-law, Larry and Sheila Williams of Kearney; and many nephews, nieces, cousins and loyal friends.
The visitation will take place 4-5:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, at Bross & Spidle Funeral Home, 217 W. Broadway Ave., Excelsior Springs. Immediately following will be a celebration of life at The Atlas Saloon in Excelsior Springs. The family encourages you to attend and wear the attire of your favorite sports team – unless that happens to be the University of Kansas Jayhawks, then please leave that attire at home :).
In lieu of flowers, the family asks you make a donation to the Missouri Department of Conservation, American Cancer Society or your favorite charity organization in George’s honor.
