The Excelsior Standard, Nov. 17, 2023

Imogene McNeely, 94, of Lawson passed away Nov. 8, 2023, at NorthCare Hospice in North Kansas City, surrounded by her family.

Imogene was a Christian, a member of the First Baptist Church, Excelsior Springs, where she raised her family. She was involved in the children’s ministries, Sunday school and the women’s group. In her later years, she was a member of the Lawson Baptist Church.

Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy, and attending their events was a highlight. Imogene was the rock of her family and never let them forget family was the most important. She never met a baby she didn’t want to hold, and being around children was one of her greatest joys.

Imogene was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Nevin Wayne McNeely; son, Roger Dale Mc-Neely; daughter, Janet Kay Campbell; son-in-law, Donnie Campbell; and granddaughter, Kerri Lewis Brock. She also was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Opal Wilmot; brother, Donald Wilmot; sisters, Nancy Wilmot, Norma Lee Burns, Joann Pierson, Naomi Hampton and Rheam Phillips; brothers-in-law, Buster Burns, Delbert Pierson, Glen Hampton, Bill Phillips and Chester McNeely; and niece, Sandra Pierson Gastineau.

Imogene is survived by her children, Joyce (Frank) Adams, Opal (David) Lewis, Linda (Stan) Phipps, Steve (Penny) McNeely, Alice (Rick) Lammert, Mark (Lori) McNeely, James (Jennifer) McNeely, Jennifer (David) Siebert and Teresa McNeely. She also is survived by 25 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and six greatgreat- grandchildren; a brother, RL (Sharon) Wilmot; a sister, Ruth Wilmot; and many nieces and nephews.

Services were held at the Lawson Baptist Church, with visitation 5-7 p.m. Nov. 14. Imogene’s celebration of life was held Nov. 15 and was followed with graveside services at the Lawson Cemetery.

The family of Imogene McNeely asks that, in lieu of flowers, in her memory, donations be made to Crossroads Hospice and Palliative Care or NorthCare Hospice House.
