Janet Kay Padgett, 73, received her wings to heaven at St. Luke’s Hospice House on Jan. 12, 2021, with her daughter, Tammy, by her side.

She was born Jan. 7, 1948, in Richmond to Ellis and Zelma (Horine) Clemens.

Janet was married in 1976 to her loving husband, Gary. She and her first husband, Jim Williams, operated the Mobil Station in Richmond and owned her own beauty salon, My Fair Lady, in Excelsior Springs for several years. Following that, she worked in the plastic molding industry for more than 30 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ellis and Zelma; son, Billy Wayne Williams; and grand-baby, Samuel Martin; as well as her siblings, Tom Clemens, Jack Horine, Donald Horine, Helen Hays, Mary Thompson and Joan Sandy; and a niece, Angela Padgett-Paulson.

She is survived by her husband, Gary, of the home; daughters, Tammy Williams of Richmond, Shelly (Williams) and Mike Martin of De Soto, Kansas; stepson, Terry (Nannette) Padgett of Richmond; stepdaughter, Mindy (Rodney) Gorham of Lawson; stepdaughter, Kimberly (Bill) McPherson of Orrick; sister-in-law, Phyllis Clemens of Kearney; brother, Sam Clemens of Lake Waukomis; sister, Lydia Engledge of Arizona; and sister, Bonnie (Paul) Davenport of Grandview.

She also leaves behind nine grandchildren, Dwayne Joyce of Richmond, Ashley (Martin) Jennings of Independence, Nicole Bennett-Sees of Springfield, Joshua Bennett of Richmond, Abby Martin of De Soto, Nick Padgett of Kansas City, Dustin (Sarah) Amick of Lawson, Haley (Justin) Ware of Richmond and Bailey McPherson of Springfield. She also leaves behind nine great-grandchildren, with one more on the way.

Our sincere appreciation goes to the doctor’s and nurses at St. Luke’s East Hospital and St. Luke’s Hospice House for the compassionate care given to her during her final days.

Cremation is planned. No visitation or services are scheduled at this time. A celebration of life will be scheduled at a future date.
