Margaret Louise (Trindle) Smithey, of Camden, peacefully passed away at 6:52 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2020, at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Richmond.

Margaret was blessed abundantly and was granted a life of 92 years, three months and nine days.

On June 6, 1928, in Sugartree Township, Carroll County, the home of Forrest Lee and Mollie Emeline (Casner) Trindle was blessed with a daughter, naming her Margaret Louise. Margaret was the third child

Margaret was the third child born, joining two older sisters, Beulah Mae and Mary Frances. Having three girls in the home was sugar and spice, so eight years later, they happily welcomed a baby brother, Forrest Lee Jr. Margaret attended school in Richmond and graduated with the Richmond High School Class of 1947. After graduation, she began employment with Ray-Carroll Co-Op. On Nov. 27, 1949, she was united in marriage to Norman Eugene Smithey. This union was richly blessed with two sons, Vernon Eugene and Timothy Lee. She was later employed with Tippins Oil and Gas Inc. and the Ray County License Bureau, both in Richmond. Margaret lived the most significant part of her life on the family farm near Camden; and she was most of all a wife, a homemaker and a mother. She was active with the Order of the Eastern Star, and she faithfully attended the Camden United Methodist Church.

Margaret is survived by a son, Vernon Eugene Smithey, and his wife, Melinda, of Camden; one grandson, Jared Smithey, and his fiancé, Shelby Spor of Fleming; a brother, Forrest Lee Trindle Jr. of Richmond; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Forrest and Mollie Trindle; her husband, Norman Eugene Smithey; a son, Timothy Lee Smithey; and two sisters, Mary Francis Hughes and Beulah Mae Claypole. Others preceding her in death were a sister-in-law, Beverly Louise Trindle; and a grandson, Wesley Smithey.

A graveside service, where Margaret was laid to rest beside her husband, Norman, commenced at 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 18, 2020, at Cravens Cemetery, Camden, at the junction of Highways T and H, with Pastor Art Endsley officiating.

There was a gathering for family and friends to share their memories and celebrate Margaret’s life one hour before the service at Cravens Cemetery.
