Teddy Redhair

Teddy Ralph Redhair, 95, Marshfield, was born Dec. 25, 1927, to Edgar Ralph and Acsah Ann (Nickels) Redhair in Dunnegan. Ted departed this life for his heavenly home on Nov. 11, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Acsah Redhair; his first wife, Sue; his second wife, Patricia; his daughter, Linda Redhair; and his son, Gray Redhair.

Ted is survived by his granddaughter, April Moore, and husband Josh; grandson, Jeremy Redhair, and wife Terri; great-grandchildren, Kierstin and Cooper; stepson, Kevin Murgel, and wife Karla; step-granddaughters, Kaitlin Lowery and husband Dakota, and Kylee Sampley and husband John; and step-great-grandchildren, Merida, Silas, Jace and Kade.

My grandpa Ted was my hero. He was 95 years young. He lived such an amazing life and yet was such a simple man. He grew up on the family farm near Dunnegan.

Ted graduated from the University of Missouri (MU) with five degrees. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Fort Gordon, Ga., where he met my grandma Sue.

Ted was a lifelong educator as a teacher, principal and superintendent.

He was a man of principles and of faith. He loved gardening, fishing and singing in the church choir. Ted loved Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior, and loved to help others. He had so many stories that he loved to share with everyone. So many I heard over the years and many on more than one occasion. Stories about the farm; his time at MU; boot camp in San Diego; working on farms in Kansas during his summers home from Mizzou; going to New York and watching the Yankees; and many funny stories about his brothers Bob and Ken, and his beloved dog Sunny (or “Spook,” as he called her). He loved my grandma dearly, but when she passed and he married Patricia, he seemed happier than I can ever remember.

Ted was a great man who will be missed by many. He was my grandpa, but forever will be my hero!

Rest in peace, Grandpa. Graveside services for Teddy Ralph Redhair will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, at Plum Grove Cemetery, Humansville. Memorial donations may be made to Plum Grove Cemetery.
