Body

William E. Miller, 73, 11 months and four days, peacefully went to be with his savior on Wednesday, Sept.16, 2020, following a brief illness.

He was born on Oct. 12, 1946, in Dover, Delaware, a son of the late Enos and Sadie (Mast) Miller. On Oct. 14, 1965, he was united in marriage to Martha D. Byler, who survives.

He was ordained to the ministry in November 1976. He loved the church and was a faithful member of the Bethel Mennonite Church.

He had a compassionate heart for all people, and his love and concern for souls touched many. He had his own personal ministry in passing out Gospel tracts and CDs.

Sharing in conversation with people he met daily was far more important than the work he was doing. The three years he and Martha spent in Honduras left lasting impressions on the people he worked with.

God blessed them with four sons and four daughters: Roger (Debra) Miller of Kirksville, Evelyn (Lavern) Schlabach of Richmond, Linda (Titus) Hostetler of Brookfield, Ken (Sue) Miller of Auburn, Nebraska, Lavern (Judy) of Kirksville, Joe (Darlene) Miller of Dickson, Tennessee, Frieda (Brian) Knepp of Seymour and Wanita (Javan) Yoder of Rutherford, Tennessee; 38 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Other survivors include his brothers, Joe, Dan, Allan, David, Ray and Mervin; and a sister, Susanna.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister who died in infancy, two sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 20, 2020, at the Bethel Mennonite Church near Millville. Visitation occurred from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19. Burial occurred in the Bethel Cemetery near Millville.

Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond was in charge of the arrangements.
