In today’s world, there is talk everywhere about job security. Each person’s view of job security can differ depending on the overall goal of the job title and associated duties. Lately, I have thought about what job security looks like for myself as a news reporter for a local small-town business. For starters, when looking for a job, I look for things in an employer, most of which revolve around hours per week, salary versus hourly and benefits. Past the ideal questions any employee searches for, there are things to look for that suit your long-term needs and homelife accommodation. There is no way I can work 60-plus hours away from my family while maintaining a high work ethic. Both my family and work life would crumble. What is earned in a position financially, whether hourly or salary, is never an issue.
