Cooper Collins ruled the 138-pound division last week at the Platte County Invitational.The Excelsior Springs junior went 8-0 to win his weight class at the 53rd annual boys wrestling tournament, held Jan. 24-25 and hosted by Platte County High School. He won five matches by pin, two by technical fall and another by decision.Collins was among five medalists for Excelsior Springs. Other Tigers who brought home hardware included seniors Wyett Shipman and Justin Wright, both of whom placed second.Shipman went 7-2 to secure his runner-up finish at 126. He won four of his matches by pin.Wright went 5-2 at 285. He won three matches by pin.The Tigers also got third-place finishes from senior Ryne Marcum and sophomore Carson VanDoremalen.
