Wins eluded Excelsior Springs in varsity girls basketball at last week’s Husker Classic. The Tigers went 0-3 in the tournament, hosted by Lafayette County of Higginsville. They fell to Oak Grove 3424 Dec. 5, to Odessa 40-33 Dec. 6 and to Lexington 4233 Dec. 9. Excelsior Springs led Oak Grove 7-6 after one quarter, but then experienced a second-quarter scoring drought. The Tigers trailed 17-12 at halftime. The Tigers made it a one-point ballgame (17-16) with two quick scores in the third quarter, but the Panthers outscored Excelsior Springs 11-4 the rest of the quarter. The teams played a 6-6 final quarter. The Panthers scored 14 points off of 26 Excelsior Springs turnovers. Baylee O’Dell paced Excelsior Springs in scoring with 12 points.
