Home XC meet awaits Tigers after trips to St. Joe, Columbia

Excelsior Springs cross country coach Stephen Houck and his Tigers won’t have to leave town for their next meet.The Tigers are set to run again Oct. 8 at the Excelsior Springs Cross Country Invitational at the local golf course. The meet follows a string of road trips, including two last week – one for the Duane Kimble Invitational, held Sept. 24 in St. Joseph; one for the Gans Creek Classic, held Sept. 28 in Columbia.Mac Morris led the Excelsior Springs varsity boys at St. Joseph, placing sixth overall by finishing the 3.1-mile race at Hyde Park in 18 minutes, 45 seconds. The senior was one of two Excelsior Springs boys who placed in the top 10. Junior Liam Hedding finished ninth in 18:50.In other boys results, senior Silas O’Dell placed 25th in 19:41.9; juniors William Tade and Conrad Purnell took 58th in 22:37.9 and 59th in 22:41, respectively; and ...
