A historic run for Excelsior Springs in varsity girls tennis has ended.On Oct. 25, the program’s doubles team of seniors Shelby Stodden and Malaya Tedesco saw their seasons and prep careers end with back-to-back losses at Class 1 state tournament competition at the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield.“It was nerve-racking to be there, but it was an honor to be in the state tournament against a bunch of amazing ladies,” Tedesco said.The first tandem of “amazing ladies” Stodden and Tedesco faced were Bolivar’s Kami Bryan and Jillian Horner. Stodden and Tedesco dropped the best-of-three match 6-1, 6-4. Bryan and Horner went on to place third.The second tandem consisted of Majorie Muller and Addison Odie of Father Tolton Regional Catholic, a Columbia-based school. Muller and Odie downed Stodden and Tedesco 6-0, 6-0 en route to placing fifth....
