Tigers can’t get enough stops in homecoming loss
Like their other four losses this varsity football season, the Tigers struggled to get enough defensive stops during their 31-20 Sept. 30 homecoming loss to Grandview at Vic Bonuchi Field.
The Bulldogs scored on five of their seven possessions. They capped their first possession of the Greater Kansas City Suburban Conference-Blue Division meeting with Patrick Nimrod’s 25-yard TD run and Micah Rainey’s extra-point kick with 3 minutes, 21 seconds left in the first quarter.
Excelsior Springs then staged a seven-play, 77-yard drive, capped by sophomore Carson Jackson’s 10-yard run with 11:56 left in the second quarter.
The Tigers’ two-point conversion failed, leaving Excelsior Springs trailing 7-6.
Grandview made it 13-6 with a fiveplay, 76-yard drive, capped by K.K. Wright’s 36-yard TD run with 10:08 left in the first half. A two-point conversion attempt failed.
