Tigers drop 5 of 6 in varsity girls soccer

EXCELSIOR SPRINGS – The Tigers are trying to find their winning ways again in varsity girls soccer. After winning four straight from March 31 to April 11, Excelsior Springs had lost five out of six through Monday’s 2-1 road loss to Savannah. The defeat put the Tigers at 6-7 overall entering Friday’s meeting with visiting Cameron. Coincidentally, the slump started with a loss to Savannah, 3-1 on April 13 in the Excelsior Springs Tournament. It continued April 19, when the squad returned to Missouri River Valley Conference West Division play by hosting Pleasant Hill and falling 8-0. Excelsior Springs then opened the North Kansas City Tournament with another 8-0 loss, this time to Smithville on April 21. The Tigers’ lone win, 4-3 on penalty kicks, came April 22 against North Kansas City. It was tied 1-1 after regulation.
