Tigers get ‘fantastic’ outing from Glaspy in loss
Excelsior Springs varsity baseball coach Aaron Holst found some bright spots in his club’s 4-2 Northland Tournament opening loss to Winnetonka Tuesday.
One of them was starting pitcher Klayton Glaspy. The junior “was fantastic” in keeping the meeting at Winnetonka High School a one-run ballgame through five innings, Holst stated Wednesday via email.
Holst also saw the boys improve defensively, he said.
“ Ryne Marcum and Cruz Lloyd both had good games in left field and at third base, respectively,” Holst wrote.
On the other hand, the team continued having issues with situational hitting, Holst acknowledged.
“We loaded the bases with nobody out in the first and left all runners stranded,” he stated. “We struggled to put the ball in play.”
Excelsior Springs was looking to shore up its situational hitting Wednesday – and snap a four-game losing skid – as tournament play continued against Fort Osage of Independence, with Winnetonka hosting.
