Tigers split Mexico triangular

MEXICO – Excelsior Springs played baseball for the first time since May 2019. Over the weekend, the Tigers visited faced Mexico and Marshfield in an annual triangular to start the season in Mexico. The Tigers split their two games, defeating Mexico 10-7, then losing to Marshfield 11-0. Two big innings by the Tigers led to their first win this season. The Bulldogs opened the scoring in the bottom of the first with a run on two hits off senior starter Jalen Soria. The Tigers answered in the top of the second with six runs. Junior Eli Smith got the offense going by getting hit by a pitch with one out. Junior Chandler Lindaman followed with a right-field single. Sophomore Brendan Blackburn reached base on a bunt single to load the bases. Sophomore Lucas Dillman and senior Matthew Smith drew bases-loaded walks to score the first two runs.
