A quiet rural town became the epicenter of a battle over land, blasting and quality of life during a recent public hearing, as Mosby citizens and nearby county residents confronted Idecker Inc. over its proposed underground mining expansion.The special public hearing, called to review an annexation petition tied to Idecker’s expansion plans, featured hours of testimony from concerned homeowners, business owners and company representatives. Company representatives, including John Millan, presented maps, seismograph data and dust samples, while residents submitted a petition with more than 300 signatures urging Mosby to halt any further mining-related annexations.At the center of the proposal is the planned continuation of Idecker’s operations, which include a quarry and asphalt plant in operation for approximately 15 years.
