LIBERTY – The Clay County Commission has established a new citizen-led commission to commemorate Missouri’s bicentennial celebration, as well as Clay County’s original organization on Jan. 2, 1822.
The commission’s primary mission is to meet and advise the County Commission on bicentennial festivities; however, the new commission also will work with other area parties and brainstorm community-driven ways to honor Clay County’s rich history and heritage.
The new commission is comprised of 11 county residents. Each member was sworn to a two-year term on May 12.
