Bond modified for woman charged with child abuse

A Henrietta woman facing two felony charges of child abuse has been granted a bond modification, allowing her to be released on her own recognizance. Misty L. Silkwood, 35, is facing two felony charges of abuse or neglect of a child, no sexual contact. Public Defender Robert L. Walden-Chastain filed a motion for a bond modification requesting that Silkwood be released on her own recognizance (ROR) with a new home plan. With no objections to the modification from Ray County Prosecution, Eighth Judicial Circuit Court Judge Lori J. Baskins granted the order with conditions. Baskins previously denied a request for an ROR bond due to feeling it would not secure the appearance of Silkwood at trial or other stages of the proceeding. Silkwood’s new conditions of release include that she be under house arrest with an ankle monitor appear in court as required, not commit any new offenses, submit to all orders and no contact with any victim or witnesses.
