BREAKING: Friday night collision sends three to hospital

November 23, 2018—A collision involving two vehicles shut down U.S. Highway 69 north of Lawson Friday night.

Missouri State Highway Patrol Tpr. V. R. E. McBride of Troop H investigated the collision that occurred at 5:39 p.m. at the intersection of Route PP, U.S. Highway 69 and County Road 204, in Clinton County.

According to MSHP Online Traffic Crash Report Details, McBride said a 2018 GMC Sierra, driven by Brent D. Clark of Glenwood, Iowa, traveled northbound on U.S. Highway 69, while the second vehicle, a 2005 Ford Escape driven by Dalton L. Collins of Kearney, traveled eastbound on Route PP.

The preliminary report said Collins’ Escape attempted to cross U.S. Highway 69 to continue onto County Road 204 when it traveled into the path of Clark’s GMC. McBride said the GMC struck the Escape on the passenger side. The Escape came to a rest in a field northeast of the intersection, facing southeast, on its wheels. The GMC came to rest on the east shoulder of U.S. Highway 69.

Emergency responders transported Clark to North Kansas City Hospital with serious injuries. Two occupants in the Collins vehicle, Regon M. Meierer and a five-year-old child, sustained serious injuries. Medical officials transported them to Liberty Hospital. Collins was uninjured in the collision.

MSHP Sgt. J.H. Thompson, Clinton County Sheriff’s Department and Lathrop Police Department assisted McBride with the investigation.
