Due to her kind heart and love for kids, Cornerstone Elementary Lunch Assistant Brenda Reed has been named Classified Employee of the Month by the Excelsior Springs School District (ESSD). While Reed has been at Cornerstone Elementary for four years, she was previously a paraprofessional at ESSD for around seven years. “I took a break from ESSD because my grandkids were born and I wanted to spend time with them,” said Reed. “Once they were in school, I knew it was time to return.” She credits her love for children as her main reason for being with the district. “Brenda goes above and beyond in her daily duties as a lunch assistant at Cornerstone Elementary, and she treats every student, staff and family member with the utmost respect,” said ESSD Deputy Superintendent Dr. Mark Bullimore.
