Calendar packed for Parks/Recreation Month
The Excelsior Springs Parks and Recreation Department has a slate of activities planned to help observe July as National Parks and Recreation Month.
Recurring activities include toddler swimming for ages 2-5 8-11 a.m. Tuesdays, Art in the Park 10:30-11:30 a.m. Wednesdays at Century Park and Storytime in the Park 10:30-11:30 a.m. Fridays. A summer speed and agility class for ages 6-14 is planned for 3-4 p.m. Mondays and Wednesday, starting on July 10.
Stand-alone activities the rest of this month include Movie in the Park, scheduled for 8 p.m. Saturday at Carolyn Schutte Pocket Park. Popsicles at the Pad is planned for July 11 at the Rainbow Splash Pad, starting at 1 p.m. and continuing while popsicles last.
In addition, Family Nerf Wars is planned for 6 p.m. July 13 at the community center, followed by the Storybook Trail on July 14. Then, on July 15, the community center will host the Family Olympics, starting at 10 a.m. Other activities include board games with seniors on July 17…
