Chamber luncheon focuses on cyber security

The first Excelsior Springs Chamber of Commerce luncheon of the year, sponsored by the Excelsior Springs Job Corps Center, focused on cybersecurity. Joe Morgan, owner of Morganites, educated business owners in attendance on the importance of cybersecurity. Morgan explained many people and business owners are targets for a cybersecurity attack even if they don’t believe it can happen. He suggested ways smalland medium-sized business owners can protect themselves, including training employees, watching out for email scams, implementing password managers and backing up old devices. “I highly suggest you go through with staff members every year and point out these things,” Morgan said. “Mostly about clicking links and emails.” He noted the number one way networks or computer systems get compromised is through the user when someone inside an organization gets tricked into giving someone else access.
