KANSAS CITY – The Kansas City Chiefs picked six players during this year’s NFL draft, which had a different atmosphere because of pandemicinduced social distancing. Team executives and coaches stayed at home and used various forms of technology to communicate with one another and NFL commissioner Roger Gooddell about their picks. With the 32nd overall pick, the Chiefs selected LSU running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire. One reason Chiefs General Manager Brett Veach had his eye on Edwards-Helaire was his ability to catch the ball out of the backfield. He caught 55 passes for 453 yards and a touchdown for the Tigers in 2019, setting a single-season record for LSU running backs. In the second round, the Chiefs selected Mississippi State University linebacker Willie Gay Jr. The 6-foot-1 linebacker tallied 76 tackles, including nine tackles for a loss over his last two seasons for the Bulldogs.
